Scilla, a small fishing village in the south of Calabria (in the toe of the boot) known as the “Venice of Calabria” and rightfully so. The views are amazing from this quaint and quiet little village—including a view of the island of Sicily. Walking into villages like these are like walking into another time. Time seems to stand still or not even exist at all. The only reminder of time is the changing of the waves and the sky fading into the most spectacular sunset I think I’ve ever seen. After a wonderful passeggiata wandering the old streets of this idyllic village, we had a delicious seafood dinner at a water-front restaurant called, Ristorante il Casato. One of our Sicilian friends gave us some great advice for our trip to Tropea and had recommended we take the hour drive south to this little village—grazie per il consiglio ottimo!
