Our youngest can’t stop talking about being a farmer and working the land. Apparently he has a farm filled with animals of all kinds and a garden producing amazing fruits, vegetables, and herbs that he uses to cook with. Although we regularly “visit” this imaginary world, I can’t wait to see what it really looks like one day! For the meantime, we decided to throw a garden party for his 4th birthday. Instead of presents, we asked for friends to bring a simple plant or seeds for us to start a small garden on our apartment terrace for the spring and summer. Parents loved the idea and Arthur was ecstatic to receive so many green gifts.
We held the party at a nearby park where friends from school and others could run freely and play on the swings and slide. It was a simple gathering, but the kids had a great time being outside and eating chocolate cupcakes with herbs on top looking like individual little plants.
I love how much Arthur enjoys the outdoors. He is perfectly content to play in the dirt, stop and close his eyes to soak up the sun, and thank God for His creation. Lord, thank you for our little farmer! Happy Birthday, Arthur!
