We knew we wanted to see the famous Cote d’Azur while staying in southern France, but we were hesitant to go into busy Marseille. Instead, we decided to spend a day in the smaller coast town of Cassis just outside of Marseille. It’s a much smaller city full of charm along with a gorgeous view of the coast. Apparently there are even more magnificent views that you can hike to from the town, but we didn’t think the kids would be up for it this time around.
One look at all the boats and yachts in the harbor and Oliver decided he wants to have one some day so he can “drive on the water.” We told him as long as he promises to one day sail his mom and dad across the mediterranean! We had packed a picnic lunch and had the most perfect view. The kids played in the sand and splashed in the water a bit but it was still way too cold to get in.
After lunch, we took a relaxing stroll throughout the town, found the most adorable park hidden in the trees, and then finished the day off with our favorite snack—gelato. What a great day.
