Sperlonga is known to be the most beautiful beach near Rome. This month, we celebrated an American Father’s Day as we didn’t realize Italians celebrate Father’s Day in March when the month came and went. The charming town of Sperlonga is just a short 2 hour drive southwest of Rome.
The kids loved playing in the sand and made friends with a sweet Italian boy who had all kinds of beach toys and a kite he shared with our kids. He and his precious mom from Napoli were there on vacation. After a fun day of walking along the gorgeous beach on a treasure hunt for seashells, eating a picnic lunch of pb&j’s, and soaking up the warm sun, we cleaned up as best we could and walked around the old part of the city in the evening where we found the perfect spot for rustic pizza. We then strolled along the narrow streets between the beautiful white buildings and finished the night off with gelato and a caffe for the drive home. It was a great family day celebrating the amazing father that Neil is.
